That is the reason why AB is stuck in the kurzick maps - kurzicks aren't winning
|
Bolded and edited for justice.
I haven't played a single game of JQ lately that didn't have at least one bot on the Luxon side (typically 2 by my count). Rarely the Kurzicks have one, but in general, games where Kurzicks lose to the Luxons are uncommon, even with absolutely terrible teams (literally see people mobbing now, not even near shrines). If it wasn't so damn easy to win as a single decent player, fewer good Kurzick players would play the format, and would move to FA or AB. Removing the bots is a good start (although fixing JQ mechanics would be nice...) by fixing the broken /report system and targeting these bots as well as gold farmers.
Also, alt-tab+enter is not a good way of making teams. It makes me sad when I see teams with 4 randoms in the outpost... and then see them minutes later on my team. Please, at least bring some manner of capper (or AoE such as Incendiary Arrows), some frontliner for taking out Monks in skirmishes, and a Monk/Rit healer. While posters here are not generally those at fault, we have quite a few viewers =)

The worst part is that I win all the time in ancestral and grenz, but it never changes. Like right now, I've won 7 consecutive in AB for Kurz, and we're still ancestral. Been here all day.
I don't mind farming the easiest map but still gets really boring. Needs new scenery.

AB used to be more fun than JQ but they are getting to be close to the same. If its stuck on one map why not play JQ for more rewards? The only thing i will miss about AB is the team play but the z keys from JQ will make up for it.

I'd rather wait however long it took to get a decent player, playing the build you want than grab any old pug. This only leads to fail. People like you are the reason pug groups fail hard.

Yes just tab+enter is better.
My experience is that when I end up in a decent balanced group, the healer will inevitably ragequit after getting rolled by extremely strong lux guild/alliance teams.
Also, the kurz wait time can be horrible enough already. I'd rather not add 10 minutes GLF water ele to that.

Or, you could just ask the people that regular the AB outposts. I know there are lots of people that are there basically every day, including myself. Names will start to seem familiar and you'll probably have some on your team once in a while.
It gives you a chance to spot them out and see if they're just terrible and farming or do it for the enjoyment.

I don't AB regularly, and many of my friends would either refuse to AB outright or will play but don't treat AB seriously, and if we wait 10 minutes to get someone they might just not play. Hell I wouldn't want to play if it takes 10 minutes to get someone, unless I'm semi-AFK in any case.
What's your beef with the Res Orb change anyway, the fact that it allows capping teams to roll you?

I'm not saying you should look for specific builds in PUGs, just roles.
I take back what I said about you folks not being to blame =P

Why so sad that it's gone? It was a weird exploit anyway.

Meh. I'd rather keep the odds as even as possible.

Because it allows me to influence games alone. It also means PuGGing is more difficult.
The odds are even. You just play rolling teams, which means you pass by the Ele / Warrior / Res Orb shrines less than capping teams, which means you don't get to res as many NPCs. It also means someone got rolled by mass ressed NPCs - despite the long time it takes for the strategy to work, not to mention the multiple vulnerabilities - and got so mad he complained to ANet ...

Yeah, ANet totally acts upon complaints.
I guess I can understand someone being pissed about having been denied (one of) their favourite strategy(ies). However, if the removal of it ruins your enjoyment of the entirety of AB, perhaps it is indeed just not the format for you.
Also keep in mind that it was designed to be a team game, not a run for solo cappers...
tl;dr: Adapt?

Considering you have to constantly trade off elementalist/warrior shrines and rez orb shrines to pull it off and that either side is perfectly capable of doing it, it is even.
Also getting the elite warriors to bodyblock people on bridges is fantastic.

It means an entire playstyle just took a pretty big hit despite not being overpowered. That's my problem with it.
I still play AB, I just don't rely on capping strategies anymore.

As others have mentioned before my biggest gripe with the perma ancestral lands shit is that as a luxon you are severly limited to balanced team builds. No point in running dual front on that map whereas kurzicks can pretty much run anything they like.
We still play lux on ancestral but when we get anoyed or when we want to run different bars we go kurzick to push the border back. Atleast on grenz luxons can play whatever builds they like.
The main balance problem is the fact that the majority of players is kurzick so they get the majority of tab invite, flare ranger, breeze monks and wamos aswell. Luxons have those aswell but to a far less degree.
If the rewards were upped maybe it would give people enough incentive to actually think about what they are bringing before they hit enter battle.

This wouldn't be the case at all. Think about your average tab-inviter, he wants a team as quick as possible, doesn't necessarliy care win or lose and will hop from one tab-invite team to another. If he loses hes still getting faction so a raise in rewards for wins/losses just means he'll get a bigger reward for tab-inviting.

Exactly, it's not that it wouldn't have a positive effect on ab, but not in the way described with better teams. People suck too much for that to happen.
What will however happen is that more people ought to be playing on both sides, meaning that there will also be more of the sucky luxon teams that will be losing to kurzick teams for the good teams to make less of an impact and then actually have the border be more balanced.
